Diminishing Stock of Onions
Quality and quantity wise, onions have become lower.
In Delhi, this state of affairs has prompted many of the locals to opt for cut
in consumption of this cooking material.
Price of onions has climbed up from the roofs to the
skies. It touched
Rs. 80 per kilogram making the Delhiites shy away from this
vegetable. Onions are a must and many dabhas give away onions during the hot
season with their dal-chappatis.

Action of Government
To combat the price rise, the Government has reduced
the price of onions to Rs.30 in the Fair Price Shops. However residents of
Delhi complained that the quality of the onions provided by the FPS was not up
to the mark. The onions retailed at Rs. 62 as per the price monitoring cell of
Delhi.
Almost every meal has onion in it. With prices taking
to high-skies like a hawk that does not see its prey at all, the quality of
meals surely will suffer. Reason for this high price is attributed to the
relentless rains and lack of arrivals from other states.
